Your PhD Photo is led by Elise Ntoremi, photographer specializing in PhD defenses and academic ceremonies, working together with a trusted team of collaborating photographers.
I have been based in the Netherlands for over a decade and have been documenting doctoral defenses since 2016, working across universities including UvA, VU, TU Delft, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Leiden, Utrecht, Tilburg, and TU Eindhoven. Since 2020, I have been included in the official list of recommended photographers on the event platform of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Depending on the scale and structure of each event, I collaborate with a small, carefully selected team of photographers who share the same standards of discretion, precision, and understanding of academic environments. This ensures consistency and reliability across every assignment.
My work is defined by precision, discretion, and a clear understanding of academic ceremonies. I focus on capturing each moment as it unfolds without intrusion, and with respect for the structure and significance of the occasion.
I studied Photography in Italy and Greece, alongside a background in Italian Language and Literature. I also hold an MSc in Psychology and am involved in research on the psychological and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, working within a UNESCO Chair and academic institutions. This parallel practice informs a way of seeing grounded in observation, narrative, and human experience.
